Ferengi Alliance
Unified Planetary Government - Ferenginar
The Ferengi Alliance is established by first Grand Nagus Gint, along with the creation of the original Rules of Acquisition.

Although the Alliance is centered on the homeworld of Ferenginar, it contains the eight colony worlds of Hupyria, Lappa, Thalos, Balancar, Clarus, Volchok, Tarahong and Irtok. All of these worlds are close enough for sublight travel.

The colony world of Dopteria diverged from Ferengi culture before the alliance was set in stone, and Dopterians are as distantly related to Ferengi as Vulcans are to Romulans.
Vulcans Achieve Spaceflight
- 901
Vulcans begin mining Charis
Vulcans not only land on their sister world, Charis (T'Khut) but quickly begin mining and testing weapons on its surface. Within 400 Terran years, Vulcans will progress from nuclear to anti-matter devices.

Importantly, despite the ongoing conflicts between Vulcan Houses, there has never been a concept of a standing military due to lack of resources. Further, by custom and tradition, Vulcan merchant parties are not explicitly armed and this extends to their ships as they begin developing sublight trade routes.
- 596
Inshai Compact Collapses
Destructon of sigma-1014 Orionis
Speculatively a sunkiller bomb is used on sigma-1014 orionis, the central star to the Inshai Compact.

As a result of destabilization, the Inshai Compact collapses. The lack of regulation and centralized control gives rise to piracy and exploitation in the former region, which includes the Rigellian system and Duthul system.

This will eventually give rise to the Orion Syndicates.
First Contact [Vulcan]
- 554
Vulcan-Duthulhiv First Contact
Duthulhiv Pirates initiate first contact with the Vulcans on their homeworld for the purposes of exploitation and potentially annexation. The Duthulhiv incorrectly assume that a unified front and lack of arms on their existing spaceships means the planet is vulnerable.

However, the planet delayed several key wars in order to engage in first contact smoothly.

After the Vulcan representatives were taken hostage, the combined Main Houses of Vulcan responded with intense hostility, using a mixture of anti-matter weapons and psionic warfare to obliterate the Duthulhiv. This retaliation continued into the Dulthul system, resulting in complete annihilation.
- 546
Vulcan-Romulan Schism
Vulcan and Romulan Cultures Diverge
As a consequence of the disastrous first contact, Vulcan xenophobia is heightened in the same time period as the spread of Surak's teachings of c'thia (lit. reality-truth). These competing cultures leave Vulcan irreconcilably divided.

As the Vulcans fully possess spaceflight, the dissenting factions choose to leave Vulcan to establish their own planet.

The Ri-hannsu - or Romulans - settle a binary planet system referred to as Romulus and Remus, similar to their native Vulcan and Charis (ah'Hrak and T'Khut).
Confederacy of Vulcan
- 335
Unified Planetary Government - Vulcan
Disturbed by their experiences with the Duthuliv, Surak's teachings of logic, peace and emotional mastery become ubiquitous in Vulcan culture. This event became known as the reformation and modern Vulcan history can be defined as pre- and post- reformation.

Within a generation, a unified planetary government was formed: the Confederacy of Vulcan.

Although the most aggressive elements of xenophobia are effectively excised from Vulcan society by the departure of the Ri-hannsu, it would still manifest in isolationism in the greater galactic community. This has also included apprehension regarding their own control.

As a result, Vulcan has been slow to engage with other races, both individually and as a society. However, Surak's devotion to diversity and the natural curiosity of Vulcans has historically remained as a counterbalance to these forces.
1486
First Contact [Klingon]
Klingon-Karsid First Contact
Following their standard pattern of expansion, the Karsid Empire makes contact with the Klingon civilization pre-spaceflight.

As typical, the Karsids used the guise of 'traders from another land' but did not reveal their off-world nature until they reconciled their hold over Klingon society and the economy of Qo'nos.
Annexation of Qo'nos
1540
Qo'nos annexed by Karsid Empire
Continuing the Karsid pattern of annexation, once the Karsid Empire's hold over Klingon society and the economy of Qo'nos, they revealed their identity as offworlders and proceeded to annex Qo'nos.

The Klingons were used extensively by the Karsid Empire as troops, exploiting the Klingon cultures' proud warrior tradition and their natural physical resilience and strengths.
1600
First Contact [Bajoran]
Bajoran-Vorellian First Contact
Old Bajoran Republic doncha know
Kethni Council
1692
Unified Planetary Government - Andor
The people of Kuy'va, or Andor first unified under the warlord Krotus. However, this unification was short-lived. After Krotus' assassination by thaans daughter, the subsequent splintering of thaans keth (clan; sing. keth, plr. kethni) led to a century of war called the Time of Lament.

In 1692, Lor'Vela- the young daughter of a prominent leader -would challenge zhens mother to a duel in an effort to end their role in the conflicts. Proving victorious, Lor'Vela released all the conquered kethni, before dissolving zhens own keth.

Lor'Vela's actions stunned the remaining kethni into co-operation, leading to the formation of the Council of Tarsk, or Kethni Council. The Andorian people would agree to forswear war against one another, establish an enduring peace. However, records from before this time were largely destroyed in a symbolic gesture to symbolize the rebirth of their world and break the cycles of violence.
1868
Karsid Empire observes Terra
Terra is considered for potential annexation
Automated Karsid probes begin observing Terra as a precursor to annexing the planet into their Empire.
Failed Annexation of Terra
1873
Karsid overtures fail on Terra
Karsid overtures towards Terran Governments meet with unexpected opposition, resistance and suspicion from the American President Ulysses S. Grant and Senator Aaron Stemple.

This surprising response is credited to Commander Spock in a classified temporal incident in 2267.
1875
First Contact [Andorian]
Andorian-Romulan First Contact
The Romulan Emperor Vitellius was aboard an unknown ship that aggressively encountered the planet Andor. Despite the disparity in technological strength, the Romulan ship's shields failed, and the Andorians successfully brought down Vitellius' ship.

This event would lead to general suspicion from Andorians towards Vulcans at their initial meetings.

The death of the Romulan Emperor led to a power vacuum in Romulan society that led to the rise of the military government and the Romulan Praetor.
Collapse of Karsid Empire
Klingon Empire
1900
Klingon revolts destabilize and hegemonize Karsid Empire
In response to opposition from the developing Orion Syndicates, the Karsid Empire becomes increasingly reliant on their Klingon clients. The conflict causes neglect to other client planets as infrastructure throughout the empire is destabilized.

As a result of these instabilities, revolutions blossom throughout the Karsid Empire.

These rebellions are both are encouraged by and in turn, inspire Klingon insurrections, which eventually lead to the Klingons taking control of the former Karsid Empire.
1969
Terran Spaceflight
Terrans land on Luna
Make some mention that charis is a sister planet, not a moon, and is called T'khut.

Cochrane develops Warp
Now we're cooking with Warp 1, the Phoenix.
Terran-Vulcan Contact
2065
UNSS Amity and T'Plana Hath
The VSA Scoutship, T'Plana Hath detected the first evidence of warp capabilities when she encountered the UNSS Amity whilst surveying the Sol XII and Sol XIII. The first contact between Vulcans and Terrans formally took place at Bozeman, Montana, Terra and included- shockingly -a handshake.

Due to the Terran difficulty with Vulcan sibilants, the world name ah'Hrak (lit. the Forge) is allowed to be sympathetically named Vulcan, a Terran Deity of the Forge. Likewise T'Khut (lit. the watcher [fem]) is officially Charis, although the Vulcan word is preferred, even in Standard.
2150
United Earth
Planetary Government - United Earth
Finally, Earth unifies. This is after WWIII and the Eugenic Wars.
First Contact [Cardassia]
2150
Cardassian-Bajoran First Contact
Technically much much earlier (1800s) but this is when Cardassia instigates it. They covet the Bajoran mineral wealth also.
2150
Ferengi Space Flight
Ferengi acquire Warp-capable Engines
As the Ferengi Alliance is composed of nine planets in sublight distance from one another, there was no pressing need to acquire warp technology until the profit potential became more evident.

The Ferengi Alliance- like many civilizations -acquired warp capability through successful trade acquisition.

There is a misconception that warp capability comes about from isolated scientific inquiry, but there are multiple paths to warp-flight for many a world.
Terran-Romulan War
2156
Terran-Romulan War - 2156-2160
misnomer, romulans are mad at vulcans, so they hit the terrans, the andorians don't like the romulans (or vulcans but that's neither here nor there) and the andorians and terrans hit the romulans, the vulcans are unhappy about the whole thing.
2161
United Federation of Planets
Romulan Isolationist Period
Founding of the United Federation of Planets
The vulcans are the final founding member to sign up, they were reluctant but it seems logical now. Terrans, Andorians, Alpha Centauri, Tellerites and finally Vulcans. Romulan Empire goes fuck you and hides away.

Potentially because the Federation made peace-ish with Klingons, Trillian Gov is like okay we'll join now. Fastest sign up to the Federation ever.
Treaty of Algeron
2311
Federation, Romulan and Klingon agree to Treaty
Neutral zone is officially bordered- until then smaller, successive treaties defined it and it was a mess. Also no Federation tech can do cloaking devices. This is a result of Romulans meeting unexpected difficulty in facing Terrans during earlier war.
2319
Bajoran Occupation
Cardassian Union occupies Bajor - 2319-2369
Cardassia finally goes after the minerals it wants. Bajor is completely unprepared for this bullshit.
Federation-Cardassian Contact
2335
Official Federation and Cardassian contact
There is occasional interaction between Cardassians and Federation, but the Cardassian Union formally presents itself as a competitor to the Federation. This is like 16 years after Federation member Bajor is occupied, but there's a LOT of diplomatic bs.
2364
Federation-Ferengi Contact
Official Federation and Ferengi contact
Although there were early contacts between the Ferengi, Terran, Bolian and Starfleet through the 22nd Century and 23rd Century, and even a temporal incident on Terra in 1947, official contact between the Federation and Ferengi Alliance took place in 2364.

This contact occurred between an unknown D'Kora-class marauder owned by DaiMon Tarr and the USS Enterprise-D, under Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

The Dominion War - 2373-2375
Cold war until Cardassia signs on to the Dominion's side. Real mess of a fucking fight. Romulans, Klingons, Ferengi, Orions and Federation all work together. Adjustments to Treaty of Algeron. It's a mess.
